Michael Don "Mike" Beasley, 61, of Greenville passed away June 18, 2013 after a long illness at Dallas Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Kavanaugh United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Cotten officiating. Visitation will be held at the family's home on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Born October 14, 1951, in Greenville, Mike was the son of James Odell and Katie (Hall) Beasley. On August 23, 1982 in Greenville, he married Barbara Gail Russell. Mike was a 1969 graduate of Garland High School and 1973 graduate of Texas A&M – Commerce. The past owner of Mike Beasley Auto Sales, he semi-retired in 2009 as General Manager of Williams Motors after 40 years in auto sales and management. After his retirement, he enjoyed working for part-time for Joe Gibson Automotive. Mike enjoyed babysitting his grandchildren, travel, fine dining and cooking for large groups, especially family gatherings (everyday was a party). After retiring, he also had more time to enjoy his church and its programs until his illness kept him homebound.
Survivors include his wife Gail of Greenville; brother James Roy Beasley of Bryan, Texas; son Russell Beasley and wife, Jessica of Greenville; daughter Ellen Myers and husband, Clint of Plano; grandchildren Sam and Ellen Myers of Plano and Luke Beasley of Greenville; and father-in-law Col. Hollis W. Russell of Greenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Odell Beasley and Katie Florence Hall Beasley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wyman Williams, Jerry Ransom, Jim Peak, Larry Pugh, Wayne Murley, Wayne Money, Kenneth Maroni, Tim Lowery, Jerry Grady, Brian Gibson, Joe Gibson, Kyle Gibson, John Foote, Matthew Chapman, and Cliff Arnold.
