On October 9, 2014, my only living sibling and little sister, Judy Schmiegel Young, went home to be with the Lord after a very long and difficult illness. Judy was born January 6, 1950. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Lynn McClung, our father, William E. Schmiegel, Sr., our brother, William E. Schmiegel, Jr. and her husband, John A. Young. She is survived by her daughter, Tina D. McClung, one grandson, Brandon A. Amendson, two great grandsons, Kolbe and Gage Amendson, and one sister, Dianna Schmiegel White. Judy spent many, many years as an OTR team driver with her husband, John. They had lived in Ocala, Florida until relocating back to Quinlan, Texas when John began losing his eyesight.
We grew up in Garland and both of us attended Garland High School. Judy married Eddie McClung, who also preceded her in death, in June 1968 and they had two daughters, Tammy Lynn and Tina Denise.
I am grateful and blessed that I was able to be at her side when she left us. It is also a blessing that she is no longer suffering and can now be with so many of our very small family members who have gone on before us.
