Reta Hume was born in Bonham, Texas on March 15, 1951 to Rev. O.M. "Buddy" Hume and Thelma Hume. She lived most of her life in Garland, Texas and graduated from Garland High School in 1969. She passed away on October 26, 2020 due to complications of POEMS Syndrome, which she battled for many years.
Reta was known for her outgoing sense of humor and her beautiful singing voice. She sang in a quartet with her brothers Jay and Otis, and sister-in-law Linda. She also sang in a trio with her brother Otis and friend Glen Binion. She was retired from New York Life insurance.
Reta and her sister Billie were very close and often stated they couldn't live without each other. Reta passed away about 16 hours of her sister's death.
Reta and Billie were known by many as The Sisters Hume. More often they than not, they were inseparable and strived to entertain the masses. It would be greatly appreciated if you could share your memories of them. We know they touched the lives of many people.
