Gary Lynn Cook, 72, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on January 4, 2023. Gary was born March 18, 1950, to Hubert and Maurine Pittman Cook, in Richardson, TX, in his grandparents' home. Gary was one of six children, who grew up in Garland, TX.
Gary graduated from Garland High School in 1969. He married Shelia Ivey Cook in 1972. They had three children, Sandra Cook, Jennifer Klump, and Tim Cook. They divorced in 2001, and Gary married Sharon Brumley Cook in 2003 He spent his career as an Electrical Engineer who repaired CNC machines for fabrication businesses all over the state. He never wanted to retire but his health forced him to. Gary was funny and always had a joke or something corny to say. He was loved by everyone, and he loved to show off his Donald Duck impersonation to all the kids. Gary loved anything computers, he could fix or build anything, he loved to fly and was a pilot in his youth continued this love by spending hours on flight simulator programs. He and Sharon spent their time together running Cook Embroidery, they loved to travel and take cruises with his siblings and their spouses. He will be deeply missed by all of those that loved him.
Gary is survived by his children: Sandra Cook, Jennifer and John Klump, Tim and Mindy Cook, Denny and Dondi Hampton, Sheri and Chris Caldwell, Darin and Laura Hampton; grandchildren: Robyn, John, Jaxon, Kyndall, Kolby, Keely, Kyla, Kamryn, Lauren, Austin, Nathan, and Bowen; brothers: James Cook, and Larry Cook; sisters: Cynthia Patrick, and Judy Roark; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister: Mary Jean Hazelwood.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Monday, January 9, 2023, at The Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall location.
